Everton are “making every effort” to secure an FA Cup third round win over Peterborough United despite icy weather in Liverpool.
A safety meeting with the club and relevant authorities to assess weather and travel conditions will take place on Thursday at 13:00 GMT.
The match at Goodison Park is scheduled to start at 7:45 p.m., with coverage on BBC iPlayer and Red Button starting at 7:35 p.m.
An Everton statement read: “At this stage the match is planned to be played as normal and we are making every effort to ensure it remains that way.
“We will continue to keep fans updated and will provide more information after the meeting.”
Peterborough has already done this criticized the decision to move the match to Thursday evening due to the inconvenience this will cause some fans, and the potential postponement will likely increase their frustration.
A Met Office yellow warning for snow and ice was in force across Merseyside on Thursday morning, but the BBC is not forecasting any snowfall on the day.
Temperatures are also expected to remain above freezing until midnight.
Similar security concerns were raised ahead of Liverpool’s match against Manchester United on Sunday, but… the match went according to plan.
Meanwhile, the Merseyside derby took place between Everton and Liverpool postponed due to weather conditions caused by Storm Darragh in early December.
