Taiwan’s Lee Chieh-po hit the bull’s-eye on Saturday, birdieing four of the final five holes to earn the only LIV golf spot on offer at the LIV Golf Promotions event in Riyad, Saudi Arabia.
Lee, who also goes by his English name Max Lee, shot a 68 on Saturday morning and a seven-under 64 in the afternoon to reach 10-under and win by two strokes of fellow Asian Tour player Taichi Kho and Zimbabwean star Branden Grace.
Coletta and Buchanan finished fourth at five under.
Players who finish in the top 10 will receive an exemption from all 10 International Series tournaments next year, with one LIV Golf spot available in the rankings.
Colletta has three career wins, including two since 2023 on the PGA Tour of Australasia.
Buchanan was a two-time winner of the PGA Tour of Australasia this year and fourth on the Order of Merit.
The week in Riyad started with 92 players fighting for the sole spot in LIV, and the field was whittled down to 20 for Saturday’s final rounds.
Lee becomes the first Taiwanese player to have full status in the Saudi-backed league and hoped to inspire others.
“It means a lot to our players,” Lee said. “LIV Golf, I think it’s a dream for many players. I go there and they will come.”
Grace, who was relegated after a poor performance, could also be re-signed by the Stinger team in LIV.
Also in the top ten were Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent, who was also relegated from LIV, and Ollie Schniederjans.
