Conor McGregor has claimed he has “agreed” to fight Logan Paul in an exhibition in India that will see the Irishman feature in a high-profile boxing event for only the second time.
McGregor was recently held liable in a civil court case in which a woman accused him of sexual harassment and was ordered to pay more than £200,000 in damages. The former UFC champion previously said he plans to appeal the decision.
He previously fought Floyd Mayweather Jr in a professional boxing bout in 2017, which saw him lose by TKO in the 10th round.
McGregor, the former two-weight UFC champion, announced on social media that rumors of him returning to the Octagon to fight Spanish superstar Elia Topuria are false – and instead, he is set to fight Paul before returning to the Octagon – where he faces Dustin Poirier in 2021. Hare has not fought since breaking his leg.
“Rumors of a fight with [Ilia] Topurio (sic) lie,” McGregor said in a post on X.
“I am in preliminary agreement with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul at a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed.
“Then I’d like to go back to the octagon.”
McGregor was due to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303, but pulled out with an injured leg.
Mukesh Ambani, whom McGregor mentioned in his social media post, has a personal fortune of $120 billion, according to Forbes.
Paul, who rose to fame as a YouTuber, fought Mayweather in an exhibition fight that ended in a draw. He fought three more times, including a win over MMA fighter Dillon Dennis – his only win.
