Teenager inspired by Luke Littler opens Middlewich darts shop

When Raymond first started taking up the sport, he visited a darts shop in St Helens and was surprised at how busy it was.

Living with his parents above the former Kinderton Arms pub, he suggested they turn the ground floor into a darts shop.

“It was all my son’s idea,” admitted dad Julian. “Me and his mom thought it was a good idea, so let’s try it.”

The store is only open on weekends, so the teenage boss can sit behind the counter, although he opens his doors to young players every Wednesday evening.

The darts academy they founded is still going strong, and the youngest member is only eight years old.

“None of them are from my school. You get to meet different people, that’s good.”

“I would attribute most of it to Luke Littler,” Raymond said, “which is why there are a lot of academies popping up trying to help young people.”

The young shop owner even had the opportunity to meet his hero by playing alongside him in the Cheshire Open, and was delighted that Littler heard about his business venture.
