The January transfer window will be an important one for Crystal Palace, with the Eagles preparing to part ways with Odsonne Edouard in order to fund new signings during this period.
The forward joined the London outfit from Celtic in 2021 as part of the squad. £14m deal The spell with the Scottish giants and his time at Selhurst Park was a mixed bag. The 26-year-old has produced some big moments in a Palace shirt, but on the other hand, the striker is a player who lacks consistency.
Edouard was not in Oliver Glasner’s plans at Crystal Palace and, as a result, the France star has been loaned out to Leicester City for the 2024/25 season.
However, the move proved to be a disaster for the former Celtic man as he barely played. The Crystal Palace loanee has featured in just eight games and has yet to play a minute since Ruud van Nistelrooy’s arrival – with the Dutch coach hoping Edouard will leave in the new year.
Football Insider The Foxes are reportedly considering cutting Edouard’s time at King Power short so they can sign him on loan again in January.
If this happens, Palace will look for ways to permanently move on from the player.

Like Leicester City, Crystal Palace will also be bringing new players to Selhurst Park in January as the Eagles find themselves bottom of the Premier League table. Former Premier League scout Mick Brown admitted the Eagles would consider selling Edouard to fund those deals if the Leicester striker returns.
Edouard only signed a one-year extension at Selhurst Park this year, until 2026. That decision is now paying off as it protects his value ahead of a potential sale.
“I heard the palace wanted to let him go permanently [if his loan is cut short],” Brown told Football Insider. “It will allow them to make some money from his sale, which they can invest in the team.
“But it will depend on whether any clubs look to sign him after he failed to make an impact at Leicester City.”
Palace are unlikely to get much money for Edouard in January, but at least the cash will help them bring in a better player.
