@shortgamechef
When you’re in the mood, smoothing out your short game can seem like an impossible task. But thanks to this clever trick by Parker McLachlin The 100 best golf teachers to followyou can cure your game of jerky, inconsistent strokes.
According to McLachlin, toe tapping is a great way to heal a chip. In the clip below, he explains that this hack works because it helps you “turn off” your mental side and distract yourself from the punch.
It’s not only good for your mental game. McLachlin says his finger touch will also help improve your body weight position when chipping.
“If your weight is too far on your front foot and you’re trying to tap your toes, it’s really difficult,” McLachlin says.
Think: come back, touch, go
To try the McLachlin finger chipping trick, go to your normal chipping setup. Take the club to the top, touch your lead toe, and then continue your downswing. Take a few test swings, playing around with different tempos to find the right fit for your game. Then place it on the ball to start clear, solid contact.
