Before the first fight, the unpredictable Fury refused to make eye contact with Usyk during one clash and then shoved his opponent a day later, but it was his father’s antics that dominated the headlines.
John Fury showed up headbutted a member of Usyk’s entourage at the beginning of fight week. On fight night, he attended his son’s anarchic corner, barking instructions, his voice drowning out SugarHill head coach Steward.
Warren expects Team Fury to be on their best behavior, with John – who will once again be taking the corner kick – taking the backseat.
“There were a few moments where being a parent became more important to him than being a corner, which I completely understand, but the corner is going to work differently this time – he has to,” Warren says.
Fury’s wife is also expected to watch the fight from ringside.
Paris Fury is six months pregnant they lost a child on the eve of the first fight and was unable to join her husband in Riyad.
“I really felt her absence. You can usually feel her influence in the wardrobe,” says Warren.
“But I’m sure Paris will be there for the rematch and there were no cuts this time either, so hopefully the whole aspect of what happens outside the ring will change what happens inside.”
While only Fury and those he trusts will truly know how ready he was physically and mentally in May, Itauma noticed a change in thinking.
“He definitely cares more about it,” she says.
I’m not saying it wasn’t like that before, but I feel like he’s more on the ball.
“Tyson may not show it publicly, but there has been a change in his mentality that could earn him a rematch.”
