Cummins’ absence would leave 50-over World Champions Australia with the decision to take the captain, and the versatile and viceroy Mitchell Marsh already with the problem.
McDonald said that Steve Smith, who is currently leading Cummins in Sri Lanka, and Captain Australia in 59 one -day international teams, and his colleagues Travis Head are two options.
Head has never been a captain in Odi, but he was responsible for one T20 – the defeat of England in Cardiff last year.
“Pat Cummins was unable to resume any kind of bowling, so he is very unlikely, so it would mean that we need a captain,” said McDonald.
“They will be two that we look at this leadership position.”
The masters of the masters, which take place in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, begins on February 19.
Australia is in a group with England, Afghanistan and southern Africa and learns England in its opening on February 22.
The teams have until Wednesday, February 12 to make changes to their preliminary teams. Leftar-Wemmer Mitchell Starc and Seamer Nathan Ellis are currently the only matched fast hats in the Australian team.
Seamer Sean Abbott, Left Spencer Johnson and Quick Lance Morris were part of the team beaten 2-1 at the house by Pakistan in the latest Australian series Odi.
