Ice hockey: Great Britain women beat Spain in Olympic qualifying

Katie Henry scored twice to help Great Britain beat Spain 3-0 in qualifying for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Great Britain, who had beaten Latvia in the first match, took the lead when Henry converted Katherine Gale’s cross after 10 minutes.

Henry cut inside from the left and fired a second shot in the 54th minute, before Jodie Alderson-Smith slotted into the empty net to complete the win for Sheffield.

On Sunday, in the final match, Great Britain will face the Netherlands, who also won both matches.

The winners of their four-team group will advance to the final qualifying phase, which will take place in February 2025.

British athletes want to qualify for the first time for the Winter Games, the 2026 edition of which will be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy.
