British Emma Raducanu lost in the first round of Abu Dhabi Open when she went in straight sets to the former Wimbledon champion Vondrousova.
22-year-old Raducanu was beaten 6-3 6-4 because she turned out to be unable to take advantage of her late entrance to the main draw.
She began positively with the Czech Vondrousova and led 3-1 after an early break, but then surrendered to the first set, losing five more games.
