In the NFL, not all wins create the same emotions.
The Washington Commanders defeated the New Orleans Saints on Sunday to move to 9-5 on the season, but the victory came with some late drama.
New Orleans scored 12 points to end the game and scored a late touchdown to make it 20-19. The Saints elected to go for a game-winning two-point conversion rather than force overtime with an extra point, but the conversion attempt failed, ultimately sealing the Commander’s victory.
The touchdown came after some weird clockwork — the game clock appeared to be paused with nine seconds left in the game, giving New Orleans precious time to spike the ball and prepare for its final play.
After the game, Washington head coach Dan Quinn was blunt about the situation:
“I want to take the high road.”
