Danny Drinkwater took to social media to explain why he sat down with Man City fans at the weekend.
The ex-Chelsea player was present for City’s 3-1 win over the Blues at the Etihad Stadium when they noticed he was sitting among the home fans.
Taking to social media to explain the decision, Drinkwater wrote on his Instagram story: “To the @Chelsea fans asking why I’m in the City End … I asked the club for tickets!?! I got none.”
It was accompanied by a circus tent and a rolling eye emoji, suggesting he was not impressed with his old club.
But for fans, he was the one who performed less impressively.
one Chelsea Fan wrote: “Why would they give him a ticket.”
A second said: “He took enough from the club. They gave him a great retirement package.”
A third wrote: “If he really wants to support the club I can’t see any harm in buying his ticket btw.”
A fourth added: “Dirty him ..didn’t do anything significant for the club.”
Meanwhile a fifth wrote: “I won’t even give him a ticket. He can buy them with the wages he gets *****g.”
Although Drinkwater is an ex-Chelsea player, he is not someone the supporters like very much.
