According to reports, Manchester United is close to signing talented young Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon in the January transfer window.
This is according to the latest information provided by trusted transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano via his official X account, with the Italian journalist claiming that Leon is undergoing a medical in Manchester today and an official announcement has been made confirming his transfer.
Manchester United accelerates negotiations for another left-back signing!
See below for more details on Leon’s move to Manchester United, including the fee structure, and the date he will actually join, as this is not a deal that will be completed immediately…
???Paraguayan defender Diego Leon underwent a medical examination in Manchester today and was announced as Manchester United’s new player.
Cerro Porteno’s fee is $4 million, plus $1 million in simple add-ons and more than $3.5 million in difficult add-ons.

Leon looks like a good young star who could have a great future in the game and United fans will no doubt be excited about his arrival in the summer of 2025.
The 17-year-old may not become a regular in Ruben Amorim’s first-team squad anytime soon, but a new left-back is arguably already needed.
Is Diego Leon good enough to play for Manchester United immediately?

It remains to be seen what MUFC will decide to do with Leon, but we know some players progress faster than others, so the South American teenager could find himself ready to make an impact soon.
United could use an upgrade for the injury-prone Luke Shaw, while one imagines there are some doubts over Tyrell Malacia’s future given his lack of impact during his time at the club and his own injury problems.
But at the same time, the Red Devils may feel that they can also bring in some more mature players in this position, and Leon may be signed in the next two or three years rather than next season.
