To make the 2024 playoffs, the 49ers have no room for error with four games remaining. The Niners haven’t been in the best shape as they’ve been plagued by injuries throughout the season. The team went 6-7 through its first 13 games in 2024 after going 12-5 in 2023. Week 15 of TNF will take place in San Francisco against the Los Angeles Rams.
If the Niners win tonight, they will have the same record as the Rams. Last season, the 49ers made it to the Super Bowl, but lost to the Chiefs in overtime. In that game, LB Dre Greenlaw tore his Achilles while running upfield after the Niners had to punt. The 27-year-old spent the first 13 games of the season on the PUP list. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Greenlaw has been activated from the PUP list and will play in Week 15 against Los Angeles.

Dre Greenlaw was selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft 49ers Leaving Arkansas. Greenlaw appeared in all 16 games for San Francisco as a rookie. That included 11 starts with 92 tackles, one interception and three tackles for loss. During the Niners’ 2021 season, Greenlaw only played in three games due to injury. In 2022 and 2023, he returned to form and played at least 15 games in each season.
When Greenlaw tore his Achilles in the Super Bowl, the 49ers were devastated for their teammate. Greenlaw is one of the key pieces on their defense, and the team missed out on that in 2024. The LB is expected to make his season debut for the Niners tonight. It won’t be a full workload for Greenlaw, but it will be his first NFL game since tearing his Achilles tendon. Greenlaw’s return is a long way off, and the Niners could use his help if they want to make the playoffs.
