HAMBURG – Eddie Hearn expects the outcome of the Alexander Usyk-Tyson Fury fight to determine Anthony Joshua’s next move.
Usyk and Fury had a rematch in Riyadh on December 21st, which was one of the most exciting fights of May this year.
Joshua is an interested observer as he looks to bounce back from his loss to Daniel Dubois in September.
There was speculation that Joshua could fight Dubois again on February 22, but as Joshua recovered from the injuries sustained before and during the Dubois fight, Dubois moved on to fight Joseph ·Parker vs.
Hearn said the injury was not serious but added: “He’s not yet in full training and won’t start training officially until January, so he’s hoping to fight in May or June.”
“Nothing serious,” Hearn said of the injury. “It’s more of a hiccup in training camp and more of a problem in the fight – he can train but can’t start training and that’s why we can’t pick February 22, which is probably, all things considered, It was the right decision and hopefully after the next one this week it could be a very good decision, but we’ll see what happens.”
When asked if Joshua’s goal was the winner in the Fury-Usyk fight, Hearn revealed that Joshua’s top priority was revenge against Dubois.
“His target was Daniel DuBois,” he said. “If you’re a fighter and you get beat, you’re going to want to avenge the loss, or try to do that, so I don’t think he’s going to change. I think now, if Fury wins, that fight is going to be very intensely if he [Fury] Losing is still huge. Next week will be interesting. “
