Emma Hayes named best women’s coach at FIFA awards

United States head coach Emma Hayes was recognized as the best women’s coach of 2024 in The Best competition FIFA Awards in Doha.

The 48-year-old led Chelsea to a fifth consecutive Women’s Super League title last season before leaving to take charge of the United States and lead them to Olympic gold in Paris.

This is Hayes’ second winner of the award after winning the award in 2021. She receives the title from the England boss Sarina Wiegmanwho won in 2022 and 2023.

It’s been a memorable year for Hayes, as she also received the Ballon d’Or for women’s coach of the year in October.

To win the award in Qatar, she beat off competition from Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor and her Chelsea replacement, Sonia Bompastor.

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho won the Puskas Award for his sensational overhead kick against Everton in November 2023.
