England’s women’s squad for Euro 2025 is beginning to take shape.
Europe’s reigning champions and reigning champions will travel to Switzerland this summer in the hope of defending their title – and are thought to have a good chance of doing so.
With victory at Euro 2022 and a run to the 2023 World Cup finals sparking the imagination, the Lionesses have earned the right to be considered favorites and will be desperate to add more to their squad this summer. Many trophies.
However, their star-studded squad faces an extremely difficult task in the group stages after being drawn alongside France, Netherlands and Wales.
They need to improve on their poor performance in qualifying to get over the hump and compete for European Cup glory again, with a new crop of young players set to compete for Euro 2025.

England head coach: Salina Wigman
Lionesses’ Dutch boss hopes to reach fifth consecutive major tournament final to lead England into Euros
Sarina Wiegman has endured heartbreak in two World Cup finals – one with the Netherlands and one with England – but has twice led her team to the European Cup finals , both lifted the trophy, at home against the Netherlands in 2017, and the Lionesses in 2022.
Will this be Weegmann’s third consecutive title in Switzerland?
England’s star player
Alessia Russo
Russo, 25, won the Lions’ fan-voted Player of the Year award in October and has been one of Wigman’s most trusted and reliable players since taking over in 2021.
Just like the 2023 World Cup, Russo scored some very important goals for England in the qualifying matches. The striker opened the scoring in the 1-1 draw with Sweden and the 2-1 win over Ireland, and scored the lethal second goal in the 2-1 away win over France.
Russo has been outstanding in front of Arsenal’s goal, which will be music to Wigman’s ears as the European Championship approaches.
