Enzo Maresca has made an incredible start to life at Chelsea but there is one decision that has been questioned by fans and pundits alike.

The Italian coach was brought to Stamford Bridge this summer to replace Mauricio Pochettino, with the former Leicester City boss currently leading the Blues to second in the Premier League and first in the Europa League.

Maresca has found a way to get the best out of Chelsea’s young players, but the 44-year-old made a decision before the start of the season that many in the football world still question.

Blues boss decides Making Roberto Sanchez the number one goalkeeper this seasonThis is despite the London club signing talented 22-year-old Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal in the summer.

Sanchez is a liability between the two Chelsea teams as the Spanish goalkeeper is an average goalkeeper who is not good with the ball at his feet and is prone to making mistakes that lead to goals.

Despite this, Maresca has full confidence in the 27-year-old, who started all but one Premier League game in the first half of the season – which Jamie Carragher thinks Chelsea will pay the price this season.

The 44-year-old told the media on Friday that the situation won’t change anytime soon.

Speaking to the media ahead of Chelsea’s game against Brentford on Friday, Maresca said Sanchez would not be relieved of his duties anytime soon.

“The idea will not change, we believe in Roberto,” Italy coach via Fabrizio Romano. “But also in this situation we have two very good goalkeepers. Until they are at the same level we are happy with that.”

As the season progresses, Maresca’s life or death will depend on this decision, as this choice could end up having a major impact on Chelsea’s season.
