Ronny Huybrechts after this year he ends his career with PDC. An absolute highlight for the now 59-year-old Belgian was 2013, when he reached the final Darts World Cup along with his brother Kim. This tournament was very emotional.
Brothers Ronny i Kim Huybrechts started the 2013 Darts World Cup with a special mission. “Our father died a few months before this tournament,” Kim said on the podcast “Double Top”. “His biggest dream was always to see us in action together at the Darts World Cup. Unfortunately it didn’t work out, but before this tournament started, Ronny and I agreed that we would play in the World Darts Cup as a tribute to our father.”
The Belgian pair took second place in the group stage (behind Northern Ireland) and thus advanced to the knockout stage. There they defeated Australia, Croatia and Finland, so the quasi-undefeated England of Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis awaited them in the final.

“It was truly a fairy-tale tournament,” says Kim. “Everyone was very sympathetic to us, our wives traveled with us and we also received great support from the hosts. If we had won that final too, maybe it would have even been filmed.”
“A real emotional rollercoaster” – Ronny describes the tournament. “Even our manager at the time Mac Elkin he had tears in his eyes. It touched everyone so much;
After the tournament, both brothers had to get over their emotions. “When we got home we were both really tired. Only then did we realize what we had done and what emotions it had caused.
