David Moyes is back as Everton manager after 12 years, and the club announced that the Scot would replace Sean Dyche.
Moyes left Everton after an 11-year stay to replace Sir Alex Ferguson Manchester United in 2013, but after subsequent periods at Royal Society, Sunderland AND West Hamreturned to Goodison Park.
“It’s great to be back! I spent 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and I had no hesitation when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin the team,” Moyes said in a statement.
“We now need Goodison and all Evertonians to play their part in reaching out to players during this important season so that we can move into our wonderful new stadium as a Premier League team.”
The 61-year-old will be tasked with making a quick start to Everton’s season and ensuring he performs well First league survival under new owners, the Friedkin Group. The club is 16th in the table, just one point behind the relegation places.
“We are delighted that David is joining us at this pivotal time in Everton’s history,” said Everton executive chairman Marc Watts.
“With over a decade of experience at the club, he is the right leader to lead us through this final season at Goodison Park and our new stadium. We look forward to working with David to build the foundations of a new era for Everton. “
On Wednesday, Everton will host Aston Villa in their next league clash.
