A former Premier League The stalwart has left the League One coaching position after just one week in the job.
The 36-year-old has been a mainstay in the top flight for more than a decade, MiddlesbroughWigan and Sunderland.
After hanging up his boots after a brief spell in the Eredivisie, the former England youth international has remained in football, embarking on a career in coaching.
Lee Cattermole joined Bristol Rovers earlier this month, after briefly returning to the Riverside to serve as head coach of the Under-18s.
Serving as part of Matt Taylor’s backroom staff, Cattermole was tasked with helping to focus on the development and implementation of ‘set pieces.
Taylor was sacked just four days after arriving at the Cattermole Memorial Stadium, with the club in 15th place in League One having won just two of their last 11 league games.

Between 2006 and 2017, Cattermole made 238 Premier League appearances and scored six goals.
A graduate of Boro’s youth academy, Cattermole made five European appearances in his first senior campaign at the club as Steve McClaren’s side reached the UEFA Cup final.
Cattermole made 16 appearances for England U21s between 2007 and 2010.
