EvertonThursday’s FA Cup third round match against Peterborough is set to go ahead despite icy weather on Merseyside.
Everton’s clash with the League One side at Goodison Park was in doubt after days of unfavorable weather conditions in the region, with a yellow weather warning remaining in force due to snow and ice.
However, a meeting was held on Thursday afternoon at 13:00 GMT (8:00 ET) which determined that the match could safely take place.
In a statement, an Everton spokesman said: “A safety meeting was held this afternoon to assess the weather and travel conditions for fans attending the match, which confirmed that the match can go ahead.
“Everton and Liverpool City Council’s Streetscene Services team have been maintaining the roads and pavements around the stadium since this morning to ensure the greatest possible safety for fans entering the stadium.
“All visitors to Goodison Park are advised to prepare for cold conditions, exercise caution and allow any additional time that may be required to travel to the match, including reviewing any weather advisories and warnings that may apply in the areas to which fans travel With.”
