Ferrari to supply Cadillac F1 team with engines for 2026

Ferrari will supply engines to the new Cadillac team if its entry is approved for the 2026 Formula 1 season.

The American brand has essentially a deal with F1 to join the championship from 2026 and build your own engine “at a later date”.

Cadillac, part of General Motors, has agreed with Ferrari to buy customers’ engines and transmissions until its own powertrain is ready, which is not expected until 2028.

The move means Ferrari will still have two customer teams in 2026, despite the loss of Sauber, which will become factory equipment for Audi.

Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur said: “It’s great to see the involvement of another American team, supported by one of the most respected brands in the automotive industry, at a time when Formula 1 is gaining popularity in the United States.

“We are therefore delighted to be providing the team with our powertrain and gearbox as the basis for this technical collaboration.”

Vasseur said having two customers – Haas will continue its relationship with Ferrari – “brings benefits in terms of technical development at Ferrari.”

Cadillac’s entry has yet to receive official ratification from F1, but this is expected to be a formality.
