FIFA – the governing body of world football – has selected the hosts of the 2030 FIFA World Cup and 2034 FIFA World Cup tournaments.
On Wednesday, at the Extraordinary FIFA Congress in Zurich, it was revealed that Morocco, Portugal and Spain will co-host the 2030 World Cup – the first time in history that three countries have co-hosted the competition.
Moreover, to celebrate the middle edition of the World Cup, 100 years after the first World Cup in Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay will each host one of the first three matches.
The 2034 World Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia. It will be the first 48-team World Cup to be played in a single country, with the maiden, expanded edition of the tournament taking place in 2026 in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
Four-time world champions Germany will learn their potential route to the 2026 World Cup finals at the European group stage draw ceremony in Zurich on Friday (12:00 CET).
