Joe Cullen he stepped aside Wessel Nijman after an emphatic 3-0 set victory and stormed out of the press conference in an angry display of emotion from “The Rockstar”.
He accused the media of over-hyping Nijman and causing his downfall, and that he was shown no respect before the draw.
Apart from the PDC, he answered one question and then said that since he had not been shown any respect, he would not show the same courtesy to the media, then immediately said he was going home and left. After a tumultuous 12 months, Cullen has performed unexpectedly brilliantly and, ahead of his match with Gerwyn Price, he was clearly keen to prove his doubters wrong.

“Rapturous. I thought I played some of my best stuff. I’m happy” – Siad Cullen after the match.
“I’m 30 places above him, I’m not proud that it happened. I’m satisfied with the performance, I don’t know Wessel personally. I think the environment and the media contributed to his death. “He was very eager to play.”
“I had problems with oche and out of oche this year. So find a gig like that. I have to thank you guys because I don’t think I would have played like this if I hadn’t read some of the crap I read earlier.”
“The media attention that has brought Wessel back to attention does not reflect on him. He’s been involved in a few cases before, but he served his time and kept his hands up like no other. So I think like I was treated by the media, you have no control over the bookmakers.”
Before he immediately left without answering any further questions. “I was not shown any respect, so I will not show any respect to any of you today. I’m going home”.
