There’s certainly something brewing at Alexandra Palace tonight as another big name has emerged Gary Anderson on a dreary night in the outer ring, especially for a two-time world champion Jeffrey de Graaf he threw himself at them with great pleasure.
Anderson was expected to fly through his section, but instead we have De Graaf v Nebrida for a place in the last 16 of the 2025 season PDC World Darts Championships as well as a kind of open section where Michael van Gerwen can move around. 2024 has been a very unpredictable year in darts and continues to take new turns.

Today is Anderson’s birthday and it looked like he was initially more focused on giving De Graaf his own gifts as he watched the former Dutchman, who now plays for Sweden, end the first set 3-1 with a goal of 97.2 3/4 in doubles because he raised the alarm early.
Things were getting worse for Anderson as his number of missed doubles soon rose to 20 at 16, allowing the Swede to end the second set unanswered, meaning Anderson had one set to get it back, otherwise he would have gone home.
De Graaf did not start the third set, as did Anderson after an 11-darter shot that gave a sign of life. But De Graaf pinned 52 for the 14-darter to go, so it was now or never. Anderson sent it home and De Graaf waited to seal the victory.
De Graaf’s shot was not enough to keep him in the field as the Swede shot exactly 76 for a double 18 to seal his biggest win of the tournament so far. Nebrida was the best until Ross Smith was there, and now Gary Anderson is out in a row.
