Gary Anderson throws average of 118; but eventually sees Border Masters title go to John Henderson

John Henderson won the title on Friday evening during the Border Masters exhibition tournament in the Scottish town of Kelso. Gary Anderson showed great form during the event, but ultimately lost the chance to win the general classification.

Anderson recorded an impressive average of 118.66 in his quarterfinal against Stuart Bell (3-0). Dirk van Duijvenbode also impressed in his match against Chris Harvey (3-2), in which the Dutchman scored a moyenne of 106.57. Henderson won the quarterfinals against Kevin Ingles (3-0), and Phil Smith managed to surprise two-time major tournament winner Nathan Aspinall (3-2).

Anderson then triumphed in the semi-final against Van Duijvenbode. With an average of 106.07, the Flying Scotsman was 3-1. Henderson became the second finalist, beating Phil Smith. In the Scottish final, Henderson won 3-2.

During this period, many of the world’s top players play exhibition games. Not primarily for some nice extra pocket money, but also to keep the match rhythm going before the PDC World Darts Championships.
