Gianluigi Donnarumma was left bloodied by a brutal boot in Paris Saint-Germain’s match with Monaco.
The Italian came on to challenge Wilfred Singo in the Ligue 1 clash, and the Ivorian striker threw his studs into the goalkeeper’s face.
Donnarumma required treatment before being covered in blood in the 22nd minute of the match.
Rather unbelievably, Singo, who was already booked, avoided a second yellow as referee Francois Latexia deemed the collision accidental.
Donnarumma was then photographed holding his face together in terrifying style.
RMC Sport claimed that despite the trauma, he appeared in the tunnel at half-time to await an explanation from the referee.
More bad news was to come for PSG, who ended the half 1-0 up thanks to Desiree Dou.
Elise Ben Segir would then equalise MonacoBefore Breel Embolo makes it 2-1.
Ousmane Dembele Goncalo Ramos then equalized in the 64th minute to make it 3-2 and Dembele added a fourth.
Monaco also had a red card, but it went to coach Adi Hutter in stoppage time.
The result would ease a lot of pressure on Luis Enrique and PSG would open a 10-point gap to Monaco that could be four.
But in Europe, where things really matter, the picture is bleak.
PSG are currently in 25th place in the league stage of the Champions League, a position that would exclude them from the knockout rounds of the tournament.
Luis Enrique has been confused by many of his team selections and is known to have amused the players by revealing his line-ups an hour before kick-off.
The European treble winner is also at war with underperforming forwards Dembele and Randal Kolo Muanyi, while Donnarumma also faces his wrath.
The Italian has been benched three times so far this season, with Russian Matvey Safonov stepping in for their biggest campaign yet at Bayern Munich where they lost 1-0.
