Liverpool have rested more than usual ahead of their Champions League away match against Girona after the weekend’s match was postponed and there is no need to change the squad, manager Arne Slot said on Monday, with goalkeeper Alisson back in the squad after injury.
Slot’s decision to play his strongest team yet has paid off – Liverpool are top of the Champions League table, ensuring they have at least a play-off place, but the aim is to automatically qualify for the last 16 with a top eight finish.
Girona, in their first season in Europe, are 30th in the table with three points from five games and three points from the play-offs, while Liverpool have 15 points and two points ahead of Inter Milan.
