Murray, who took his own life on May 25, 2024 at the age of 30, spoke openly about his struggle with anxiety, depression and addiction.
Founded by Eric and Terry Murray, the nonprofit organization aims to raise awareness and support the mental health and addiction challenges that impact people at all stages of life.
“Grayson touched the hearts of so many people by sharing his mental health struggles,” Murray’s parents said in a statement issued by the Grayson Murray Foundation on Monday (Tuesday AEDT).
“He has used his platform as a multi-time PGA Tour champion to reach and inspire those in need, and we are committed to continuing his generosity and unwavering commitment to help make a difference in the lives of others.”
The foundation, based in Murray’s hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina, will also support “innovative research” and expand access to essential mental health and addiction care services.
It will seek to foster “a culture of understanding inspired by Murray’s legacy of compassion, resilience and hope.”
Murray joined the PGA Tour in 2017 and recorded wins at this year’s Barbasol Championship and the 2024 Sony Open in Hawaii.
After joining the team in 2016, he also scored three Korn Ferry Tour victories.
