Ricky Evans delivered one of the best matches at the World Darts Championship before the Christmas break. The 34-year-old Englishman defeated his compatriot Dave Chisnall 3-2 in the second round, and now he will face Robert Owen. Evans became a real crowd favorite.
Evans v Chisnall was a hugely exciting match with the decision finally coming in the 11th and final game of the final set. “It was everything, playing darts back and forth. Making mistakes, miscalculations, making strange decisions. Best darts, bad moments. It was just a roller coaster of emotions going through these players. Ultimately, Evans wins, and then so does the walk – well, with that little Santa Claus on the table. All in all, very nice. Vincent van der Voort he said on the podcast “Darts Goes On”.

A crowd favorite
“Rapid Ricky” is a real crowd favorite. For example, he set fire to Alexandra Palace several times with his crazy movements and similar celebrations. “You can’t play this,” says Van der Voort. “I also saw these videos on the Internet. Is he dancing on TV in his boxers again. He does the strangest things. Or he walks the streets dressed as a woman. He’s quite a strange character.”
Evans will return to action at the World Darts Championships on Sunday evening, December 29, when he faces Robert Owen in the third round. The winner of this match will face the winner of Dimitri Van den Bergh vs. Callan Rydz in the last sixteen.
