Nathan Heaney almost confirmed his retirement in social media posts.
The popular fighter suffered another defeat last night at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester. Heaney lost to British champion Brad Pauls in July and competed against French middleweight champion Sofiane Khati on his comeback.
Khati’s record today at 18-5 (7 KOS) doesn’t mean he’s the biggest puncher, but once the French hit a clean shot, it’s a game for Heaney. The Trent-based Stoke-on-Trent fighter is approaching his 36th birthday and looks far beyond speed to be able to deal with Khati’s fresh man.
Heaney is a large ticket seller in his hometown of Stoke, and over the years his fans have had an unforgettable night – his most famous, most famous victory over the former world champion challenger Denzel Bentley, the British champion. Heaney, a former teacher, gave up boxing after working as an amateur at Liverpool’s famous Rotunda ABC, but retired to roll dice as a professional and made more than he intended Many achievements.
However, it now seems we’ve seen Heaney’s last in the boxing team, along with his iconic walk to Tom Jones’ “Delilah”. The 18-2-1 (7 KOS) fighter now brought to his X account and sent a message to his loyal fans, with more than 2,000 people watching him in Manchester on Saturday.
The post reads: “Stoke-on-Trent, thank you for everything I started this journey 7 years ago, except “Give yourself 3 years, if nothing happened, then at least I wouldn’t regret it” during that time What happened was every dream I had when I was a kid…
“To be signed by Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren, to be part of the largest sports night in our city, from the local town hall to the bright lights of TNT Sports and the UK’s largest arena, becoming the British champion, Becoming a British champion is all very surreal and more than I thought…
“I have given an absolute life for the sport, and have participated in 111 battles every year over the past 24 years, 90 as an amateur, and 21 as a career…I really need to think about me The next step, but I also need to realize that I have to consider my beautiful family, friends and the city so that they give me everything.
Boxing is a ruthless sport.
“Thanks to my sponsors Amb Insurance, Potteries Mechanical Services, Elite Sheet Pling, Terraces, USN and WJ UK. These guys support their men and make me dedicate every second to the sport without having to worry.
“Thanks for the TNT movement and for the promoter I’ve been dreaming about; Frank Warren.
“But in the end, the most important thing is to thank you. You will know who you are, and everyone who was there supported me. I have dreams, but only with you can they become a reality. I will always be Thank you ❤️
“It will be very tough in the next few months, but I have to remember that I did everything I could to get home…I absolutely did everything. Stoke may never have happened, but the memories along the way certainly did in this way.
“I’ve been a boxer all my life, and that’s what I know…
“I’m absolutely sad.
“It’s a very sober moment, but thank you again, I hope everyone has a great day/night.
“I will always be one of you.
If this is Heaney’s ending, he’s always a model for the young warrior’s experience. Always respect, without blood, never refuse interviews.
The right warrior and great servant of the sport.
