Mammoth cash prizes breakdown of £500,000 total for PDC 2025 Winmau World Champions was confirmed by the first edition of the historic tournament, which will take place from January 30 to February 2, 2025.
The top 24 players awarded the PDC Order of Merit after the World Darts Championship will be automatically seeded. The eventual champion will take home a prize of £100,000, while the runner-up will receive £50,000. Semi-finalists will receive £30,000 and quarter-finalists will receive £17,500.
There has been some controversy about this announcement as the prize money will only be paid in the knockout stages of the preliminary round, starting with the 64th final, meaning that for those who want to go there, it will be a decision they will have to make.
This will be done in groups of 32 players seeded in the final 64, joined by the 32 group winners in the round-robin format.
In this group stage, players are seeded one in each group (players aged 57–88 according to the PDC Order of Merit), and the remaining players both in the 128 and those who come from secondary tournaments are drawn in these groups.
This is the return of a format that is the most historic in darts and has seen in the WDF in recent years, although now in a leg format instead of historic sets, and will see the likes of Van Gerwen, Littler, Humphries return to the league format in which they were playing at the turn of their career or in which they were playing for the first time.
