Chris Dobey we can start preparing for 2025 Dart Premier League campaign. The 34-year-old Englishman made his debut in 2023, was not invited last year, but is now expected to return.
Dobey, who also played one night each as a challenger in 2019 and 2020, was eligible to take part in the full Premier League Darts competition for the first time in 2023. That invitation had a lot to do with the fact that he had just won the Masters at the time. Dobey ultimately placed seventh in this lucrative competition. There’s a nervous wait for “Hollywood” this year to see if it gets the call. He didn’t win a single major last year, but he was number one in over the park tournaments, winning no less than three Players Championships. Moreover, at the last World Darts Championships, he reached the semi-finals, where he lost 6-1 to Michael van Gerwen.
Last Monday, the PDC announced the final selection for the 2025 Premier League Darts, and Dobey, alongside Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross, Gerwyn Price, Nathan Aspinall and Stephen Bunting, was among the lucky eight . “It’s brilliant, I can’t thank them (PDC) enough,” Dobey told BBC Radio Newcastle. “Week after week you play against an elite team in amazing places and amazing cities. The first time I did it, I really liked it and felt like I belonged there.”
Premier League Darts 2025 starts on Thursday, February 6 in Belfast. The date that will undoubtedly be marked red in Dobey’s calendar is Thursday, March 27. This is when the eighth day of the competition is scheduled at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle. Newcastle is Dobey’s hometown and he is also a huge fan of the local football team. “It’s just great to be on TV every week on big stages. The Premier League has improved my game even further and I hope to be able to produce it regularly on the big stage.”
