Gerwyn’s price reached the last 16 in 2025 PDC World Darts Championships where a man named Jonny Clayton is waiting. But when it came to a tie in the third round, he lost Joe Cullen in the tournament match so far.
A pulsating affair that ended in sudden death ebbed and flowed until Cullen returned after three sets, both of them missing, before Price crossed the line in a match that could decide the tournament.

“I wasn’t playing at my best, but I felt pretty good after three sets. I knew Joe could probably have one or two of those sets, so I knew he could attack me, which he did. I didn’t expect something like this to happen. like 170 out to stay in the match. I’m just happy to cross the win line,” Price said.
“I didn’t even know it was the last match, I just kept going and he shouted ‘shot and match.’ I thought I had one more game left.”
“Every victory is good for me, not the way I played, but the results I achieved this year. I didn’t play bad, but everything didn’t go my way. I didn’t think it would work out I made it halfway through this game, but luckily it did.
Gerwyn Price sealed a pulsating victory over Joe Cullen on Friday night.
He also talked about playing his close friend Clayton and what his thought process was like.
“I hope I win, but both of us (Clayton) went through a similar match where I think Jonny was 3-0 up and could have gone straight to the finish. I hope I can overtake him and it won’t help, it doesn’t matter, but we both had similar games.”
“I don’t play with Jonny, I play on the board. It doesn’t matter if I’m playing with Jonny or Joe. Later we will shake hands and the best one will win.”
But it could be a defining victory, he admits, as if he were bidding for a title that would take him to number two in the world, whether he thinks he deserves it or not.
“Only one tournament. If I win this, I’ll be number two in the world. After the year I’ve had, I probably don’t deserve it, but if I win, I’ll be there.”
Other than that, he was never given any attention because Cullen admitted it and said he preferred to have it on his opponent after “The Rockstar” stormed out of the press conference in the final round.
“I prefer it on him rather than me, so these are happy days. If my A game comes in, I win the tournament, but what matters is whether my A game is there. I don’t think it matters how good your A-game is, what matters is how good your B-game and C-game are.”
