Jermaine Watttimena shipped the first seed package in 2025 PDC World Darts Championships. “The Machine Gun” finished 16th in impressive style James Wade 3-0, and now after Christmas they will face the winner of the fight between Peter Wright and Wesley Plaisier.
Wattimen, who has been in the form of his life in recent months, reaching the final of the European Championships and making deep runs in both the Grand Slam Darts final and the Players Championship Finals, has remained just below the 100 average this season, losing only two legs against Wade ‘those. He thus confirmed everything that was good in his first match at the World Championships, in which he also won against Stefan Bellmont on the opening evening with a high average.

“I believe that at the moment I can beat anyone, so I think I can make some history,” reflected the Dutchman in his post-match press conference then. “I’ve been playing really well over the last few months and I think mentally I’m a lot stronger than I was a few years ago. I am delighted with my performance. It was a good day for me, so I’m more than happy!”
Wattimana has performed so well in recent months that some consider him a real contender for the World Darts Championship. However, according to the man himself, he is not yet ready for such hype. “There are many good players who can win the world championship and I think I am a good outsider for that. Just an outsider,” he insists.

Wattimana now returns home to the Netherlands and spends Christmas with her family. He will then return to north London to face the winner of Peter Wright’s fight against Wesley Plaisier in the third round. “I’m expecting Peter Wright,” Wattimen says honestly. “I think even with the form Peter has shown this year, he wasn’t at his best, but Wesley wasn’t very good today. He’s a really good player, but I think Peter’s advantage comes from his experience.”
