Ally Pally cult hero Rashad Sweeting details shock meeting with Luke Humphries

Rashad Sweeting on Tuesday, he made history for his country by becoming the first player from the Bahamas to appear at the World Darts Championships. Although he had to admit his superiority over Jeffrey de Graaf, “The Candyman” performed well.

Sweeting clearly decided to fully enjoy the atmosphere at Ally Pally, and in the meantime, the fans in the room were loudly supporting him. “Walk Through the Sweet Wonderland” made a number of noises at Alexandra Palace.

Even though the result didn’t go his way, Sweeting can return home richer in experience. He then recounted a special encounter with reigning world champion Peter Wright.

“Let me tell you a funny story,” Sweeting began with a smile. “I was in my room, practicing upstairs in the hotel, throwing darts. I heard the door jerk – it was locked, as if someone was having trouble getting in. I thought they were cleaning ladies.

“So I went to the door, opened it, looked up and said, ‘There you are.’ [Luke] Humphries! You want me to come here because you’re the best player in the world? Do you want me to get up?”

He said, “No, no, you’re good, you’re good,” and that’s where we started talking.

This impromptu meeting also allowed Sweeting to seek advice from the best darter in the world. “He gave me courage and advice about the game and what to expect,” Sweeting explained.

“And he asked me about my country – how it starts there. Very nice guy. Very cool. I love it, man.

“I was in my room and someone said to me, ‘Rashad, listen, Luke Humphries mentioned you.’ He didn’t remember my name, but I’m alone here [from the Bahamas]. It’s still amazing.”
