Teary Tavis Dudeney inspired by Luke Littler in Q-School success

Tavis Dudeney sealed his tour card when he finally let his emotions flow after meeting Adam Paxton in the UK Q School and will join the canceled PDC Tour for the next two years.

There’s a long way to go for Dudeney, who has long been a huge talent on JDC and more recently on the Development Tour. He detailed his flying journey after winning the final and his joy was obvious.

“Unbelievable, I just can’t believe it. I really can’t,” Dudeney said after the finale after bursting into tears.

“I just thought if I break a throw, just try and hold it, and if I don’t break it again, just keep going, keep going and keep going. I didn’t let my emotions get the better of me and just hit the bullseye, 126 was unbelievable.”

“I have been playing darts in the local league since I was 7 or 8 years old. I remember starting on Tuesday and having to ask pubs if I was allowed to play and I just knew as soon as I started doing it and I wanted it. That was my goal. To achieve this is incredible.”

“Starting the Dev Tour was a step-by-step process. I got to my first semi-final two years ago and then I felt like I could build on that now and then I got to another semi-final and got to the final. I won the first one and thought I could do it. “You can start now.”

He also talked about being inspired by Luke Littler’s play when they were both growing up and wanting to blaze a similar trail.

“Anyone would say Phil Taylor did it for the game. I’ve known Luke Littler for a long time and what he’s done is unbelievable. I thought you could do it.”

“I knew I had to get through the match. I just did it. The first day wasn’t great. Yesterday was a little better. The lady came and stayed with me today, it was a huge turning point with her watching me. You write a few mistakes here and there.
