Squad for 2025 Dart Premier League has been confirmed by the PDC. As always, not everyone is happy with the selection of eight players. For example, after the announcement on Monday, the name Damon Heta trended on social media as darts fans appeared to support the Australian number one when he missed the match.
The four best PDC Order of Merit players took their usual places, as did Humphries, Łukasz Małyr, Michael van Gerwen AND Rob Krzyża in fact, I never had any doubts about their choice. Truth be told, neither does world No. 5 Stephen Bunting. The last three selections were a little more difficult to predict, but in the end the PDC settled on the selection Chris Dobey, Gerwyn’s price AND Nathan Aspinall.
This obviously didn’t please all fans, with players like Michael Smith, Peter Wright, Dave Chisnall, Jonny Clayton, Mike de Decker, Ritchie Edhouse and others missing out. However, as we have already mentioned, at least online, most of the fan disappointment seemed to be aimed at downplaying Australian number one, Heta. Now The Heat themselves have commented on this decision.
“Well, as usual, there are a lot of strong emotions surrounding the elections in Poland (I don’t follow trends very often).” – writes the Australian on his official social media channelsto be honest that despite much speculation, he really believed in his chances. “I didn’t expect to be selected in PL and I know that I didn’t even participate in talks with the management on this matter, but I appreciate each of you who included me in your squad and believed that it would happen there.”
“I didn’t move to England to play in the PL and I’ve been quite open about it over the years,” Heta concludes. “If it ever happens, it will happen, but I will continue to work hard and what will be will be.”
