Jonny Clayton won a sudden death match against Mickey Mansell, a thrilling end to a long session at the stadium PDC World Darts Championships.
Clayton spoke afterwards and said he wouldn’t wish this on his “worst enemy” in the match and that he struggled with Mansell’s pace as he wanted to keep bowling but couldn’t.

“I have to be honest, it was very emotional. It meant a lot to me. I knew I was going to have a very difficult match, so when I went for the decider in the last match, I didn’t expect it at all, so I think I had a chance earlier, Mickey certainly had his chances before, so after that it was a big burden off my shoulders ” Clayton said after the game.
“It wasn’t the best. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. I really have a smile on my face because I came out a winner, so hopefully next time I can do the same but just a little easier.”
“These are my darts this year. Slow at first, it started to warm up a bit. I know there’s another run or two in the bank. I have to be honest, it meant a lot to me. This is a test that will help me believe again. It was a great match and the last match.
“I’m a rhythm player, so I’d be lying if I said I liked it. I like playing against rhythm players, but this makes it easier for me to play, if that makes sense. Mickey is just doing his thing and his pace is slow. I thought, Mick, please get out of the way so I can throw a little faster.
“Averages don’t mean anything, it’s good to see an average of 120. But W means so much. If I can beat the average of 60, I’ll take it every day. If you average 100 you’re playing phenomenal darts, but those games are war and I’m glad I’ve forgotten about that.”
