Thing Gerwyn’s price is interesting in 2024. Despite having the sixth-highest annual average for PDC players, “Iceman” did nothing noteworthy, falling to 10th place on the Order of Merit. As such, few fans are calling for the Welshman to be selected for the 2025 Championship Dart Premier League.
Price himself has been open in the past about his lack of interest in the Premier League, even going so far as to say he would decline the invitation if it came to him. “I’m not sure what the Premier League will be like next year, I don’t think I’d be up for it at all if I get into it. I just want to focus on the ranking events.” Price said for example in November.
While Price wasn’t the only player trying to distance himself from Premier League competition, the line of thinking led to criticism from other players. In a recent conversation with Online Darts: Nathan Aspinall he had particularly harsh words for players like Price and Gary Anderson and their lack of interest in the Premier League.
“If they don’t want it, don’t give it to them, whether they deserve it or not,” Aspinall said in frustration. “Why should they get this seat if people like me. OK, I had a bad year and I don’t deserve it, but I want it and I’ll bring something with me. I give 110% every night on this stage. If they can’t be put there, I just don’t understand why PDC would consider it my opinion.”

Price managed to reach the Premier League play-offs only once in his 6 appearances
While it may be a coincidence, just a day after Aspinall’s Online Darts comments were published, Price took to his Instagram stories to make a complete change regarding his potential selection to play in the Premier League Darts. “I get messages every day asking if I would play in the Premier League in 2025,” the former world champion’s message begins. – I would be stupid if I didn’t do it.
“And having had some time off over the last few weeks, I realized that I was bored at home without darts. So I hope so,” he concludes. “And believe me, I have a completely different attitude than I have had in the last few years.”
