‘I’m sure I’ll do it’… Luke Littler sets sights on huge milestone after World Darts Championship win

Luke Littler has become the world’s youngest darts champion by some means and believes he has what it takes to break a previously considered unattainable record.

Łukasz Małyr made darting history by winning his first world championship, beating Michael van Gerwen in the final at Alexandra Palace.

The 17-year-old made short work of Mighty Mike before racing to a 7-3 victory and winning his third major title this year.

After his maiden victory in the World Darts Championships, The Nuke looks up Phil Taylor record number of World Darts Championships.

Luke Littler wants to break Phil Taylor’s record

Taylor won a record 16 World Darts Championships in the PDC and BDO, which many believed was a record that would never be broken.

Since Littler won for the first time at the age of 17, there is a good chance that the teenager will break The Power’s record.

This is something The Nuke has thought about and believes he has the talent to achieve the required goal.

I’m talking to Heavenly sportsThe Nuke said: “Deep down, if I want to try to break Phil Taylor’s record, I’m sure I have the ability to do so. If I want to do it, I will definitely do it. I just have to keep going.

“The calendar is set throughout the year. I have said in previous interviews that if I win all the most important titles in my career, I will be happy, but of course I would like to add world trophies to it.

Taylor won his first World Darts Championship in 1990 at the age of 29, so Littler has already had 12 years on The Power.

Luke Littler is disrupting the current Manchester United squad

After Littler’s breakthrough victory, he focused on his other sporting love, Manchester United, and supported some of the club’s players after their dismal form.

United currently sit in 14th place under new head coach Ruben Amorim and The Nuke is not happy with what he sees on the pitch.

Asked by BBC Sport what needs to change at the club, Littler replied: “Just the players. There are several players in the club [who] they are developing a bit.

“They have to go and play somewhere else. And of course we need to find the right players to fit into the squad.

Luke Littler has received a message from Manchester United legend David Beckham after winning the World Darts Championship, when the football legend sent him a four-word text message congratulating the star.
