Cross still won the first set against Williams, but after losing the second set 3-2, he ran off the stage and performed the so-called “jerk gesture.”
“I think he will get a warning and maybe get a penalty, but I don’t expect it will cost thousands of pounds.” Vincent van der Voort he said on the podcast “Darts Goes On”.

Still, Van der Voort doesn’t want to be too harsh on his colleague. “I may feel very strongly about this, but it happened to me once,” he said.
“I once lost 7-3 against Ian White in the World Matchplay and at half-time I shot 180, 140, 140, 100, 180,” Van der Voort recalls. But he couldn’t continue that good line: “The guy says ‘keep playing’ and I just roll 43. Then I raise my middle finger to the board.”
“I swore once in an interview and once took my phone out of my pocket. So I might act masculine like, “You shouldn’t do that and be so damn stupid,” but I’ve had them, so it would be very weird if I started acting brave now.
Incidentally, it’s not entirely clear why Cross reacted the way he did. This is usually done towards the opponent, but Cross and Williams usually get along well. “We are good friends,” Williams later confirmed at a news conference.
