Gerwyn’s price fueled the fire for a potential Iceman vs. Green Machine fight with Michael van Gerwen at the stadium PDC World Darts Championships when he defeated Jonny Clayton to reach the quarter-finals.
Kevin Doets or Chris Dobey are now waiting as Price, despite not being at his best, has managed to get through the rounds, something he has struggled with in recent months as he has shown form on tour without results.

“It was similar to the Joe Cullen match. I’m out of the blocks. I knew I was playing well in the first two sets and then I let him back in. I got kicked in the back, started playing a little better again, but fell outside the winning line,” Price said after the match.
“I just didn’t want to let him get ahead. I just want to keep the pressure on and make sure he doesn’t get too far ahead and luckily I won the next set, I was up 3-2 and he went over the line.”
“I probably wasn’t myself on stage, but I played well early on, but I’ll be myself in the quarter-finals. Obviously for the first two sets I felt like I was playing really well but I just don’t know what will happen but it doesn’t matter that I will get to the quarterfinals and if I can play like I did in the first two sets by the end of the tournament, It’ll be hard to beat me.
He then discussed Michael van Gerwen’s potential semi-final with a smile on his face as the mind games began. “I’ve played with Michael probably six or seven times in the last few months at shows and I blew him away every time. So if I play him in the semi-final, I hope he will think about it.”
While he also stated that the draw was open, he also didn’t have an answer as to why he actually loved playing Ally Pally, despite the audience’s sometimes vitriol.
“I think everyone is focused on their game. You kind of get that in your head when you see someone playing well like Callan Rydz. He’s on the other side of my tie. Michael doesn’t play perfectly. The draw is wide open, it doesn’t matter who plays well, who plays bad, that’s what matters.”
“I don’t know why I’m doing so well here, it’s a difficult place. But this year has been fantastic for me. Like today, I was in the zone, I don’t know if they were rooting for me or Jonny.”
