Joel Embiid (sinus fracture) to be reevaluated in one week

Joel Embiid he will be out indefinitely with a sinus fracture and will be re-evaluated in about a week Philadelphia 76ers announced on Monday.

Embiid was injured during Friday’s game against Liverpool Indiana Pacersthis is only the sixth game he will play this season as swelling in his left knee limits his availability.

Embiid struggled against Indiana Benedict Mathurin for a defensive rebound in the final seconds of the first half when he caught an errant forearm and elbow to the face. The team ruled him out early in the second half due to “a blow to the right side of his face” around his cheek and nose.

Embiid suffered a number of facial injuries, including a fractured orbital bone after the collision with Pascal Siakam during the 2022 playoffs against Toronto Raptors and one in 2018 after a collision with teammate Markelle Fultz. Last year, Embiid revealed that he lost in the first round of the playoffs to The New York Knicks that he suffers from Bell’s palsy.

Embiid, Tires Maxey AND Paul George – referred to as Philadelphia’s Big Three after George’s arrival in the offseason – have only played parts of three games together. The Sixers are 7-16 on the season.

Philadelphia also recently lost a rookie Jared McCain to a torn meniscus. After the surgery, he will be sidelined for an indefinite period of time.
