Ex Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp said that if this happened, he would organize the party in Majorca First league crimson Manchester City titles in connection with violations of financial regulations.
Klopp’s Liverpool have twice finished runners-up to Pep Guardiola and his title-winning City team, first in the 2018–19 season and again in the 2021–22 season.
In February 2023, the Premier League referred City to an independent commission over 115 alleged breaches of financial regulations between 2009 and 2018. The club has always denied any irregularities.
At his place first public appearance as head of global soccer for Red BullKlopp was asked how he would react if the commission found City guilty and removed league titles from the list of honours.
“We had this discussion when I left,” Klopp said. “I haven’t spent much time in Mallorca because I’m always flying around. But if it happened, I told everyone who wanted it [come]: “Just book a flight to Majorca. I’ll buy a beer! We would have our own parade in my garden.
The German coach added that he had not followed the details of the trial, which began in September last year, and did not know when the verdict would be announced.
Klopp was also questioned about ongoing contracts with three key Liverpool players during his term.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah AND Virgil van Dijk all players have their contracts expire at the end of the season, and Klopp’s deputy, Arne Slot, has often asked about the future of all three at press conferences.
“I’m very happy that I’m not responsible for this situation and have to answer these questions every week,” Klopp joked.
“I would really like all three of them to extend their contracts. They don’t tell me what’s going on. When Virgil is between the ages of 41 and 44, I’m sure he’d love to play for New York… I’ll welcome him with open arms.”
Klopp told the press conference that he hopes Salah will stay at the club. considering him Liverpool’s greatest modern strikerand also goes on a rant about the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.
“I think it’s useless. It doesn’t help if you don’t have summer break,” he said.
“Whoever wins the tournament is the poorest winner ever because they have to play all summer and then the league starts all over again. We have a lot of injuries in European football right now.
“We need to reduce the number of games. This means that in some leagues it would be better [if] you have 18 instead of 20. This means you don’t add games in other competitions.
