One of the most iconic world champions in history, Keith Deller he started in each of the first three World Senior Dart Championships releases. However, when the 2025 squad was announced, Deller stood out as a noticeable absentee.
After reaching the second round in 2022 and 2023, losing to Larry Butler and Neil Duff, Deller was eliminated in the first round of the 2024 Senior World Darts Championship, losing 3-1 to Richie Burnett. However, as mentioned, when the 2025 edition takes place at the Circus Tavern from February 19-22, Deller will not be in attendance as he was overlooked when the WSDT (World Seniors Darts Tour) handed out invitations.
As it turns out, “138” himself did not take kindly to this affront. “I wasn’t asked to do this, so I feel disrespected. Some of the invited players didn’t even win the televised tournament.” Deller responded on his official X (Twitter) account when fans questioned his absence. “I’m sorry, but 45 and over is middle age, not senior age.”
Deller has appeared regularly on WSDT in recent years
Legendary John Lowe he also only reflected on this decision after he competed in the inaugural Senior World Darts Championships in 2022. “I see what you mean Keith, the truth is that you/we have fulfilled our goal, be it playing or promoting, unfortunately it’s a fact of life,” said the three-time world champion. “I agree, it would be nice to know you’re no longer in the competition.”
“You hit it right on the head, John. That’s not a nice way to feel when you’re still ready, willing and able,” Deller replied, before adding in a follow-up tweet that he still wishes WSDT all the best. “I hope the seniors can see success for some of the players who helped make the sport what it is today.”
As we have already mentioned, the Senior World Darts Championships start on February 19 at the Circus Tavern, where famous names include: Simon Whitlock, Mervyn King, Steve Beaton, Martin Adams, Part of John, Leonard Gates, Robert Thornton, John Henderson and more will fight for the crown.
