A 26-year-old man has pleaded guilty to murdering the wife and two daughters of Sky and BBC racing commentator John Hunt in a crossbow attack.
Kyle Clifford, from Enfield, was charged with fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend Louise Hunt (25) and her sister Hannah Hunt (28) with a crossbow, and stabbing their mother Carol Hunt (61) at their family home in Bushey, Hertfordshire , July 9, 2024
Clifford, who had served in the army for around three years since 2019, was the subject of an hours-long manhunt before he was found injured in Lavender Hill Cemetery in Enfield, north London, after shooting himself in the chest with a crossbow.
After his death, Hunt said the devastation he and his surviving daughter Amy felt “cannot be described in words.”
Appearing at Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday, Clifford pleaded guilty to three counts of murder, one count of falsely imprisoning Louise Hunt and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon – a crossbow and a knife.
He has pleaded not guilty to raping Louise Hunt and will go on trial for that charge later this year.
In the wake of the attacks, the Home Office said Home Secretary Yvette Cooper was urgently considering whether tougher crossbow regulations were needed.
