League One matches rarely attract the same attention as Premier League matches, but that looks set to change.
For the first time in the history of the English Football League a Premier League the match will be broadcast live on CBS Sports and COSM in the United States.
COSM is an immersive entertainment destination in Los Angeles and Dallas that provides fans with a shared gaming reality. First league matches are often shown, but this is the first time a League One match will be shown.
The League One clash between Birmingham and Wrexham will go down in history
City of Birmingham they are going to head to the Racehorse Ground to face them Wrexham On January 23, the match will start at 8 p.m. on Thursday evening shown on CBS Sports and COSM in the US.
Earlier this year Wrexham and Birmingham had hope perform in one of this season’s shows in the United States to capitalize on their growing fan base, but the EFL prevented this.
Wrexham is owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, while NFL star Tom Brady has a stake in Birmingham.
The match could also have a huge impact on the promotion race in League One. Wycombe are currently top of the table, with Birmingham sitting second in second place, having been automatically promoted. Wrexham are third, hot on the neck of the top two.
However, there are still six league games left before their mid-January clash and plenty of changes are expected to happen.
Birmingham won 3-1 earlier in the season when the two sides met at St Andrew’s.
According to FourFourTwo, it is astonishing that a League One match attracts so much attention in the US, regardless of who its owners are. This can only be a positive.
