Harry Maguire’s glaring last-gasp miss in Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool may not have been what it seemed as new footage suggests Joshua Zirkzee was likely to be offside in the build-up.
When Maguire seized the opportunity, the official lines used by the VAR team at Stockley Park were not used in the match broadcast.
But the unofficial lines drawn by Heavenly sports The team reveals that had Maguire scored, the goal would have had to stand an offside decision from very close range.
And from what we see, Zirkzee was like that probably offside, with the toes of his left foot, seemingly just behind the last defender’s line.
